Learning Markers
A
review of the assessment process at Southbridge School has led to the
development of learning markers. The learning
markers, developed by staff from the national curriculum guidelines,
have been used to assess each child’s progress.
These outcomes are based on the
expected level of achievement by
the end of the
year.
The
students are assessed in each curriculum area according to the learning
markers. The teacher determines whether the student is always, usually
or sometimes performing at the expectation. This criteria is used to
establish whether the student is working above, at or towards the
expectation for that year level.
The
assessment is recorded on the student management system, Integris.
This is merged into a Word document and forms part of the student’s
portfolio.
The
collective assessment for each class is analysed and the results put
into graphs to assist the teachers in planning their future goals and
teaching focus.
Statistics on the overall appraisal are used to inform the Board of
Trustees as to the achievements of the students.
