Kia ora,

We are a learning community of Year 2-3 students.

Welcome to Term 3.

This term for our inquiry we are focussing on the Arts. The time has come again for our students to show case their talents in or school production, Beauty is a Beast.

In community 4, we will begin our drama inquiry by developing our dramatic skills with a unit called The Giant Who Threw Tantrums.

The drama is set in a little town called Thistle Mountain. This little town has a huge problem! They have a giant living in the forest who is throwing tantrums, destroying forestry and crops, and it is also scaring the local towns people. Why is he so unhappy?

The challenge for the villagers (our class) is to solve the problem. Through drama conventions such as hot seat, role play, gossip mill and many more.

As we look to solve the the villagers problems we will use our school values Aroha, Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga, Mana and Whanaungatanga. For example; Why is the giant feeling so unhappy, is there any aroha in his life?

I am super excited to see what our community creates.
